Director of Production / Scrum Master

Job Description:

The Director of Production plays the key role overseeing production of all client and internal development projects including task management of in-house, freelance, and oversees resources (approximately 20-30 people at any given time).

We are looking for a person who is very strong in production planning with an ability to mange project plans and daily task assignments for both creative and technical resources. You will be responsible for leading, documenting, and training all team members in our process and best practices which include both Waterfall and Agile development approaches.

Your background should be in technical project management and you should be versed in all current project management practices and software including but not limited to MS Project, time-tracking, Pivotal Tracker, Excel, Mantis or Jira bug tracking, Git/SVN, or similar such software.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead, implement and manage the vision of production standards, best practices, and process including both Agile and Waterfall methodologies; ensure optimal efficiency of full-time, part-time, consultant, out-sourced, and freelance resources; scope incoming projects including determining deliverables, timeframes, resource requirements, and project plans; work with Project Producers to ensure project scope, schedules and daily task assignments are up to date, accurate, and in-line with the contracted project requirements; manage database of freelance staffing resources; ensure profitability of all projects including management of all project budgets and actualizations; be an overall advocate for process and PM methodology; research and anticipate PM shifts and trends in the industry.

Related responsibilities:

Lead daily scrum and weekly company resource meetings; regularly supervise in-house technical resources; manage all software systems including Pivotal Tracker and time tracking / timesheets; support Quality Assurance process; lead overarching production management and resourcing process; recruiting and managing freelance roster.

Requirements:

  • Expert level understanding of project management methodologies and approaches
  • 3+ years project managing large-scale technology engagements involving custom development and complex integration using both open source and enterprise level technologies
  • Minimum 3 years managing a multi-disciplinary team in an interactive agency environment
  • Expert level knowledge of and ability to create documentation around and train people in both Waterfall, Agile and Scrum paradigms
  • Proven ability as a manager responsible for motivating and supporting technology teams consisting of both in-house and outsourced resources in varying time zones.
  • Proven success implementing and creating resources / documentation for new processes and best practice
  • Able to converse knowledgeably about of a wide-array of programming languages such as HTML/CSS, Java and PHP, Perl, SQL, Flash/Flex, Ruby-on-Rails, NET, etc. and the ability to propose alternative solutions and cost-benefit analysis based on these technologies
  • Familairity with object-oriented design concepts, various frameworks, data storage implementations and enterprise design patterns
  • Familairity with enterprise level CMS systems, e-commerce platforms and enterprise search solutions, web 2.0 technologies including social network and blog platforms, widget development, mobile and emerging digital interfaces
  • Technical degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to code in HTML/CSS a plus
  • Ability to run Quality Assurance / User Acceptance Testing a plus.
