Funny Garbage: 10 Years of Making the Web Worth Watching

The N Website

The N

Project Overview

The-N.com is an excellent showcase for the range of services Funny Garbage provides: blending solid, logical user experience design, compelling graphic presentations, standards-based XHTML and CSS mark-up and award-winning interactive media applications. With FG's help, The-N has developed into a premiere entertainment brand and online destination for young adults.

Launched in 2002 to complement and promote the cable channel, The-N.com quickly became a popular attraction in its own right, developing a loyal, energetic audience and providing the foundation for a far-reaching online community. The next three years saw continued enhancements as we implemented a second distinct look and feel while improving usability, offering users increased personalization controls and augmenting features in the by-now booming Community area. For a re-launch in early 2008, we took it a step further, again renovating the site's look, while also completely rebuilding the front-end templates with semantic XHTML and CSS, vastly improving accessibility and Search Engine Optimization.

Establishing innovative ways to merge on-air and online content, our partnership with The-N has also produced ground-breaking interactive applications, including the Emmy Award-winning N Video Mixer. Part of a prolific 2006, the Video Mixer launched in March, while The N Video Masher — as its name might imply, a beefier version of the Mixer — launched in November of that same year. December 2006 featured the debut of The Click Video Commenting ("Vommenting" tm) system, which allows users to embed comments into a live video stream. In 2007, we developed and launched the multi-user Screening Parties application: a virtual viewing room where attendees watch and interact with video streams.

Utilizing Funny Garbage's innovative solutions, The-N.com has grown exponentially since its initial launch, evolving constantly to offer users fresh experiences.
