Project Overview
Turner approached FG to develop and integrate new digital software to allow live broadcasts of two-dimensional, cel-based animated characters.
FG devised a cost-effective technical solution that helped Turner redefine its content, creating a new range of archival possibilities. We then identified appropriate software and managed the software extension writing process in conjunction with Kaydara, the developer of Filmbox software. User friendly interfaces were developed to enable Turner to use the custom software solution without elaborate training of existing personnel.
FG also oversaw the actual production of the animated character by Primal Scream, set and background video to ensure optimum functionality within the software specifications. Working within the high standards established by Turner, we produced a capability that never existed before in live television.
We invented a content generating tool that can be applied to a variety of creative situations on-air and that allows sophisticated convergence opportunities with Turner’s on-line properties. The first use of this technology was seen on Cartoon Network in the show JBVO where cel character Johnny Bravo hosts a viewer request cartoon favorites show.
